A very exciting crop emerging from the tunnels here at Wye Organic. Cape Gooseberries, also known as Chinese Lanterns, are a member of the physallis genus, which includes tomatillos. The fruits grow in papery husks known as lanterns. They resemble an orange tomato in appearance but the taste is like nothing you’ve ever eaten in your life! Tangy and sweet – simaltaneously both savoury and dessert.
