Cloves are the hard, dried flower buds of an ever- green tree of the myrtle family, from SE Asia. Very aromatic with a strong pungent flavour, they are used in spicy dishes, in sweet and savoury recipes and in warming hot drinks. Renowned to help sooth toothache too
