Our cooking apples have a fantastic flavour with a good balance of sweetness and acidity.
The name of the variety is lost in the mists of time (our trees were probably planted in the first half of the 20th century), but they’re delicious, and the odd knot or gnarl is a reminder than this isn’t a bland, generic supermarket waxwork but proper food.
Our apple trees lie just outside the garden and so are not covered by our certification. We grow them using the same techniques as the rest of our crops.
